GLASS

Two types of glass can be used in aquariums: regular and low-iron glass. Sometimes Laminated glass is used, which combines the advantages of both glass and acrylic.

ACRYLIC
Acrylic aquariums are now the primary competitor to glass. Acrylic aquariums are built of clear thermoplastic, which is a popular choice for manufacturers and hobbyists due to its ease of fabrication and lightweight. Acrylic is easier to scratch than glass. However, unlike glass, scratches in acrylic may be polished away.
